To many people get drawn into this "diet" debate of what's good and what's not IMO? If she's eating Butcher's then stick with it,she will do grand on it,be better than chopping & changing her diet

TB ,,,do you feed her separate or next to the the other dogs,,,I had a young bitch years ago,,that was picky,,,so I would hold one of the other dogs next to her on a lead,,,,that jealousy thing kicks

Don't buy any dripping or fat I cook meat for my tea most nights and save the fat and juices from the meat and bang it in a tub and stick it in the fridge. We ad duck other day loads of fat and juice

King, is it ok to give the dripping everyday?

Cheers

Yes CM that's what I do mate. Mine are out for hrs and hrs everyday running the mountains. If I didn't use the dripping and lard they wouldn't eat enough to hold weight on them as they are burning so much off each day.

I feed raw meat.chicken mince/minced tripe/minced beef/amongst other things. And the dogs will only eat so much raw meat then turn there nose up at it.with the dripping mixed through the bowl is licked clean after every meal.

I like to have a little bit of fat covering there ribs. I don't like seeing ribs on a dog and them being to down in weight.

I can't see any benefit to having a super lean dog they seem to burn out faster.

Could be a pancreatic problem ... I had a german shepherd years ago with the same issues your having and turned out to be some sort of pancreatic thing ... Course of medication and he was fighting fit and eating well within a month ......

Cheers king, will try it.

Vet said dog in great nick, but I'm probably similar to you

Atb

To be honest mate I think people like a dog to look very lean last few ribs showing and hip bones sticking up. As they think it makes the dog look fit.it doesent mean the dog is fit.far from it.

We ad duck other day loads of fat and juice in the tray straight in a tub and in the fridge for the dogs. Also get sister and mother to save the fat for me don't save that much on money but what I do save goes on chicken wings and brown rice for the mutts. The fat worked a treat on my pup as he was not holding his weight on the fat twat can't move now lol

If she's eating Butcher's then stick with it,she will do grand on it,be better than chopping & changing her diet that's a fact! Some of the best working lurchers I've ever seen were fed nothing flashy & I mean dogs that were run harder than 99.9% of dogs in the land & they took no harm..my brother owned such a dog,it got fed a handful of kibble,a few slices of bread & 1/2 of one of them sloppy brawn sausage type things,in it's 18 best nights lamping albeit obviously not consecutive the dog caught over 400 hares, yeah that's the truth,if your dogs eating something trust me it's better than eating nothing!! Good luck buddy & I'm sure your pooch will do just grand

I think that's were I have gone wrong in the past with most my dogs..looking far to much in to the best diets..my old man thinks am barmy with half this food I get them... Probly made them fussy eaters myself by doing so...dad use to keep racing huskys and they would have a few hand fulls of dry aday and the odd bone....
