Is it me or has anyone noticed Talpex spring not as powefull , and the trigger plate softer easy to bend ?

Are they cutting back on quality ? last 2 lots seem the same, maybe the triggers softer than my last batch

Purchased some genuine Talpex recently, springs very strong IMO, but the trigger plate is very soft. They are catching quite well

It is the same story with Flatpack Duffus traps. If anyone has the original version of their Ultimate Stainless Steel traps (the ones without the Flatpack website details stamped on them) they will know just how well made they were. In the last four years there seems to have been three or possibly four incarnations, each successive one less well made then the previous one. My mate brought some over last year and they were hardly better than the much cheaper Far Eastern traps available everywhere.

I've got some four year old Talpex and some newer ones I bought last year. I'll have a rummage through them and see if there is any difference.

They're not a lot different to the far cheaper deal on ebay or Procter Pest Stop i think it is - the last lot I had hardly needed tweaking - though I prefer a more rounded narrower shape that fits the mole runs i work wit better.

Bearing in mind that according to some European guidance we should be changing them every 20 catches its difficult to justify the flatpacks. Personally I regularly check the springs unintentionally but not scientifically. Where these bureaucrats get the ideas from I don't know, why release such info without providing some kind of minimum standard and means of testing the spring strength. That would stop crappy chinese/indian/pakistani imports overnight.
