bigmac 97kt 13,795
Right , iv started to put the tru oil on her now gave her a little light rub over with the wire wool clean,d her down with a damp cloth(did not have any white spirits) to remove the dust of the rub down then set about oiling her up i put the oil in a little carton then placed the carton on another bigger carton and put hot water into this to warm the oil up this thins the thick oil out and makes it easier to apply plus its easyer to put whats left back in the bottle so its kept good , as when you leave it in the tub it will go off and its a waist lol i used a lint free cloth to put the oil on the stock this gives an even amount of oil to the stock and no runs you will see the different stages as the oil go,s on atvbmac  1 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
THAT'S IT! Just the way I want mine to look Jim. You've got in some lovely tones on this stock! Not too light, nice darks and the grain brought out well. I wish I could do things like this. My spare HW80 stock has a nice grain figure under the finish. 1 Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
Very nice mate ,but why put stain on a nice bit of wood ? I have done a HW kt stock yesterday and will be having the finale coat of oil tomorrow . I just hated the stain which is on the stock, why do they do it , it is walnut, does not need a walnut stain Same a beech why put a walnut stain on it ,beech is a very nice bit of wood in it's own right Just my thought on the matter of stain 3 Quote Link to post
