A Few More Pellet Tests, Hw100 .177

Recommended Posts

The local range has reopened after some revamping and whilst it is only 25mt, it serves as a start until some of these winds drop then I will do the same at ranges up to 50mt (just for testing) at Humberside Shooting ground. The groups are all full mag (14shots) with two more mags to clear the barrel prior to these groups.

The air cylinder was filled to 200bar on each group so no difference between groups in terms of air pressure and all shots are bench rested.

I enjoyed the test and look forward to the next test.

I would seriously test those Bisley mags out to range, certainly a brilliant group at 25.

Yes you are right Jonnie, just not quite as clean a hole as some but a 5p coin covers all but AA Field and RWS Super Field as I have just checked and found out.   Phil

All of them could change at 35 yard and beyond

Yes I agree Mitch and looking forward to finding out. The Bisley Mags really surprised me though, did not expect such a good group. It may not show on the photo but they were the best group.

The target spot is 8mm by the way.

Not wishing to be different guys but would a "true reflection" of any pellets "true capabilities" be learned from a highly contaminated barrel ?

The group representation for AA fields is nowhere near the groups i am getting with my AA Fields "only" barrel.

My HW 100 KT .177 is an utter "tac driver" with the AA fields.

I first started using AA Fields from the gun being new but after a couple of tins found I just didn't get the consistency I expected, I bought a tin of JSB Exact and straight away groups were tighter.

I am not qualified to state that cleaning the barrel and leading up with new pellet really makes much difference as have heard so many differences in opinion that I don't know what to believe. On my little tests and ones done at shorter range in the garden do not show me the need to clean and lead up but again things may change at longer range. Whatever the result, I am enjoying the process and find it interesting.
