I really cannot believe that you didnt know the dog is involved in the up bringing of cubs FD but you dont seem convinced ....as for the dog only being vocal during the rut I can guarentee you he will call to the vixen if he sences danger ....that particular litter on the previous post we accounted for the vixen with the cubs and I have been in the game long enough to know the differance between a vixen and dog call and like I have already said many a cold night I have spent out on the hill listening to the dog and vixen call to each other warning of our presence ...One thing is for sure and I have said this to many people there are no rules when it comes to vulpes you learn something new about them everytime you hunt them whether it be with gun ,dog or hound .

Ffs lads you nearly had me on the dog fox bit but two litters one hole ,I ain't having that .

I can honestly say I've watched many earths ,some to shoot them some to watch and even though I've seen and shot other adults in the vicinity of the earth ,I've never once seen evidence of any other but the vixen bring back food .I've seen two vixens fighting like hell in a gulley one evening both obviously suckling, very noisy and oblivious to us stood watching and I've seen the vixen chase other adults nearby even when cubs are half grown .You do learn from this site and I've learnt from this thread that even though I think I know most things ,the rest ain't worth knowing lol .

First cam in place so await footage .Cubs are on solids too .Game on .

I was with a retired keeper friend on a small shoot he runs in his spare time (I'm a single handed keeper myself) and thought he was winding me up until I went to shoot them for him. We sat 60 yards away in his little Jimny and shot them all one by one over about 40 minutes. We ended up shooting about 6 adults from the area too so never did work out who's were who's ;)
