Bosun11 537
As gutted as i'd be, if the lurcher was a decent animal in her own right, i would put it down to my error and if i could forgive and forget, keep the bitch. Dogs that have no bond can be jealous, spiteful things and the way we choose to keep them (kennels, almost seperate lives etc) can trigger quirks in their brain. Sometimes simple nievity and ignorance about life can bring out the worst in dogs. If he can move on, keep the bitch... Quote Link to post
omar 41
Yeah I know what you are saying, and he fills the same . But she is young and it the first puppies she had seen !! Quote Link to post
omar 41
It's a shame because she had everything going for her . Her first real season just gone and picking up rabbits day and night and with out with the ferrets and all good. So what would you do with her !! Quote Link to post

omar 41
Thanks for that reply, this is the sort of feedback that might help him . Because let's be fair after a year or so of working on your lurcher it's hard to just start again. Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
Just one of them things, but don't see how you can blame the dog for the owners fault, be thankful he's two left and move on, hard lesson learnt 1 Quote Link to post
BGD 6,436
Keep her and now you know what she's like make double sure she can't get at any pups in future, simple 2 Quote Link to post
runem 533
I would,nt dream of getting rid of a dog because i had made a mistake regarding kennel security,i would be kicking myself over the loss of the pups, but learn from my mistake and move on. Quote Link to post

So many people have no idea how a dog's mind works, or don't even know if their dogs are stressed, unhappy etc. Anyone keeping dogs of any sort should read something like Jackie Drakeford's 'Dogs in Mind' book. 1 Quote Link to post
Greyman 29,097
It's a shame because she had everything going for her . Her first real season just gone and picking up rabbits day and night and with out with the ferrets and all good. So what would you do with her !! she still has everything going for her this is totally human error and know fault of the dog, why get rid of a dog because of your mistake? Quote Link to post
forest of dean redneck 11,752
Keep her and watch her round small dogs, if he can't forgive the dog ,best not keep her as no point having a dog your not happy with. Quote Link to post
scottish lurcher 185
I had a saluki base lurcher many years ago who despite being a amazing dog in the field turned rouge at around 18months of age too . She was stick trainned use to ferrets . She wanted to hunt from the time her eyes opened till the time the closed . One day while ferreting she killed a ferret that was the start of it she then she got out and kill a sheep so I had to get her PTS , but I would keep a close eye on her if you intent to keep her , but some dogs develop unwanted traits even with the best will and training in the world . Good luck with it . But can you have dog you can't trust . Edited April 5, 2016 by scottish lurcher Quote Link to post
