Heading Out In The Morning

Recommended Posts

Heading out again tomorrow to a local permission, Des (the owner) rang me last week and asked if I would come and get rid of a few, I said sure mate, I packed the ferrets, long, and purse nets, the pup and off I went, Des spent the whole morning with me, not too sure who enjoyed it more Des or me, anyway the final tally was 30 bolted 22 caught.

It is a beautiful property with rolling hills and fantastic views, I can't wait to get back there in the morning. Photo is last weeks effort

Steady wee pup you got there. Enjoyed the film ?.

Looks like a lot of rabbits over there. Do you do it for a living? What numbers of rabbits would you take a season? I'm not about the numbers game, just curious.

Do you lamp also? Are many folks into ferreting over there?

Apologies for the questions, just curious.

I wouldn't say a living mate just pocket money, average about 50 a week, we dont have a season they breed at different times so luck of the draw weather the young are about although they are more prevalent at some times of the year, dosnt even slow me down. I do spotlight and we get a few more numbers when I do, but the pup is not starting lamping until she is 12 mths old she just turned 5 months ( Cant wait ) my old dog just cant do it anymore to sore.

There was a lot of ppl ferreting, but since the numbers dropped after the calisi virus hit so did the ferreters now they are breeding up again because they are getting resistant to the virus and its variants :-)
