andykllhr 91
Well lads here she is, back from Carl and I am happy to say that the rattle from the shroud is no longer present, zero chance of clipping as my silencer screws directly onto the barrel, the regulator appears to be doing its job excellently so far. However, I will be take her into the field tomorrow for an extended zero and target session and will update when I get back, but if the little garden plink I've had so far is anything to go by, I'm going to be a happy chappy 4 Quote Link to post
andykllhr 91
Whilst she was away I also had a crack at her stock with some 0000 wire wool and then hand applied tru oil, great result I think, not overly shiny but that grain really pops. I'll add some more photos tomorrow as lighting is pretty bad in my dining room 1 Quote Link to post

just-A-snap 1,269
Should of been like that after handing over £800 at the start The stock looks well Andy hope she shoots as good now mate You would think Daystate would take heed of all the negative comments about there company and build quality of there rifles. atvbmac When Daystates Parent company Dianna starts to feel the pinch then you will start to see a different attitude, as it is at the moment things are going nicely, fingers in so many pies that on paper at least are making a healthy profit. So as long as it has enough air rifle junkies to feed it will stay as it is. All one has to do is repudiate any negative criticism for long enough and pay so many in the Air Rifle Press and Community to praise your product and Bobs your Uncle. And yes more than likely most are satisfied with their product, that is fine and good to know but not the point, it is those who are stuck with the lemons then have to jump through hoops to get some kind of proper recourse, as mac said money for most of us does not grow on trees. pianoman 3,587
Bit unfair to say Daystate owners bury their head in the sand Mitch? We bought them for the same reasons you did mate? Truthful answer? I bought Helen a Daystate Huntsman Classic purely on spec because we loved the look of it and the handling and superb accuracy it has and it has never given us cause to regret buying it. It is a really lovely rifle and like David says, it too, doesn't miss a beat If I have a case for genuine reproach it lies less with the Regal I have and more with unscrupulous buggers in the gun trade who conned me for my lack of knowledge with technical tuning aspects and power-curves and sweet-spots. And Daystate themselves. They had my rifle for two months before I asked them when would it be ready. That same day I got an emal back saying it was fixed and retuned to 11.3 ft/lbs. They did little to warrant that amount of time away and I still think the lack of power was nothing more than the inherent power-curve of their valve system. The thing with the air rifle makers is, when they want a favourable review for a new gun from someone, regardlaess of whether it's the monthly Airgun press or Youtube channels, they will ensure the reviewer gets a prime example of that rifle that has been checked, tuned, serviced, doctored and tweaked and set into the finest wood grain stock they had in the place; with none of the faults we, the poor bloody customers have to contend with. You can hardly write or comment negatively if what you've been sent is performing superbly and looks beautiful. Money doesn't grow on trees for anyone. Especially since the air rifle hunting market is not generally in the same financial market league as Purdy shotguns and all. Daystate will learn the hard way that, get stung in this market and you won't be buying another from them anytime soon. "Fool Me Once. Shame On You! Fool Me Twice? Shame On Me!" so no repeat business there. And they need that to survive in the marketplace. When I look at the three superb Weihrauch spring rifles I have just in front of me here, I think, what exactly do these guns lack, that I need to find in another rifle?. Nothing at all. . 4 Quote Link to post
andykllhr 91
Ok lads, well we spent an extended range session at the farm this morning, a few hours with the Regal and my mates HW100 (he just bought a Optisan ESX scope he had to zero, bloody lovely by the way). Unfortunately my dive bottle's gauge is broken so I had no idea the pressure I was filling to and because of the position of the Regal's gauge, it now only registers the regulator pressure (110 bar). So I filled the gun for about 10 seconds, which may have led to the first issue, I filled 2 mags with the AA field 4.51, which is what it loved before the work, however they were all over the place, and I mean ALL OVER THE PLACE. At least a ten inch group in all directions!!! However, after running four magazines through the rifle it started to calm down, not enough though, with the groups only tightening to 2 inches at 35 yards, however comma, my mate Conor's HW100 loves JSB exact 4.50, so thought Id try them, the groups went down to 20p size, much better. I'm swapping out the pressure gauge on my bottle for one that works, I think I may have rammed too many bar into the gun (Carl was running it through with 210 bar), so using my mate's bottle at 200, the gun was bang on. We had a wonder round the farm, confident that the pellets were going where we wanted, unfortunately it was too late in the day and all our quarry has disappeared, not to worry, a bit more plinking with some old corrugated plastic roofing confirmed that the Regal was absolutely perfect with 200 bar in it, right out to 45+ yards. Unfortunately I only brought my 4.51 AA's and Conor's JSB's, as I think some other pellets would produce tighter groups still, I have a full tin of AA 4.52 which were bought in error, plus some others lying around, I will do some more extensive pellet testing in the next few weeks, I will keep you all posted on my findings. So in summary, I couldn't recommend Carl's work enough, apart from me being a bit of knob this morning to begin with, the regal performed excellently, and more importantly, consistently. It no longer rattles, the silencer is on the barrel, so it's a bit shorter, I was a bit worried because from the firing end it sounded loud, but from Conor's ears sat a bit down range, it's actually silent, with only a click being heard downrange. BZ Carl of AirTech, you truly are a genius Quote Link to post
