jukel123 8,809
What a surprise. He gave up mega wages at sky and a national newspaper to got to Spain. He won 3 league games in four months.. Too much ego not enough ability. Silly boy.
pesky1972 5,363
Can't fail if you never try. I admire the guy for giving it a crack. Can't have been easy giving up what he had to manage in a foreign country.

gnasher16 30,531
I think its great to see a young English manager chancing his arm like that it was obviously just too much too soon but you cant fault his ambition.......hopefully he comes back here and can ply his trade in the championship before going on to bigger things......i like listening to his punditry but maybe he,s the type who prefers to get his hands dirty....good luck to him i say.

ryaldinhio 4,804
I liked Neville as a sky pundit, I thought he was the best one. Take his hat off for taking the job on and giving it a go. They were in a bad place when he took over. To be fair to him within a month of starting it he came out and said 'it isnt what I expected, management isnt for me' so he knew straight away he made a mistake but he still stuck at it. Full respect to the fella.
jukel123 8,809
Maybe I'm a negative, old sod, but I think he had a highly inflated view of himself based on his playing ability and excellent punditry. He goes to a country with no knowledge of the language, La Liga, or the players within La Liga. He says his mission is to enable Valencia to compete with the two Madrids and Barcelona. He actually 'guides' them from mid table to 6 points of relegation and the biggest hiding from Barcelona in the club's history. He wins three league games during the whole of his tenure. He's done himself, the fans or the club no favours at all. If he wants to manage, do so in one of the lower British leagues, show what he can do, and work from there. I can't think of one successful manager who has started off in a different country and succeeded. Yes there are managers like Guardiola, Mourhino and Van Gaal who have been successful in a different country but they all achieved success in their own country first. It was a disaster waiting to happen. I like the lad but he was just too full of himself. Hopefully he can start again from more humble beginnings and make a success of things.
bracken boy 584
Spain isn't easy to manage in, if the players don't want to play then they will down tools nowdays, he tried he failed but will he be back? I'd say yes.
