slipper 116
I know this is in wrong section but thought I would get a reply quicker on here Basically my ess bitch is always in season or phantom pregnancy I'm not sure Her tits and flower are always enlarged and I was worried about infections etc I haven't got space or time to raise a litter which I was told would settle her seasons and it wouldn't be fair on my wife to look after them whilst I'm working So booked her into the vets to be spayed they said they can't operate for six weeks after a season, well she looks in season again so had to cancel and my lurcher bitch keeps trying to ride her Does having two bitches in the same kennel cause random season? What else can I do, thing is she's such a cracking mooching dog which is a joy to be with when alls well but as soon as she's coming into season she doesn't listen to the whistle or take notice of hand commands I wanted to start her last season but couldn't risk f***ing up a drive so need to get it sorted as I want to take her out decoying in the summer Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Is she definitely in season and not got an infection? My Plummer appeared to be in season for 6-7 weeks and it was an infection. Antibiotics cleared it up. Quote Link to post
desertbred 5,490
Get her down to a good vet as some things can present similar symptoms like tumours ,infections etc better safe than sorry. Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
Sometimes very frequent seasons can be caused by cysts on the ovaries. Spaying is the only answer if that is the case ... or used to be, whether or not they can operate to remove them nowadays I don't know. I copied the following from this site:http://www.labbies.com/reproduction2.htm Recurrent Estrus (Shortened Interestrus Intervals or Polyestrus). In some cases, bitches will experience only brief (shorter than 4 months) interludes between estrus cycles. It has been observed that such bitches usually have a higher rate of infertility. The shortened intervals, however, are believed to be an effect rather than a cause of infertility. For example, it is believed that these bitches fail to ovulate, perhaps due to insufficient LH production, and as a result serum progesterone concentrations never get high enough to be recognized by the hypothalamus. This condition is believed to prompt the hypothalamus to initiate another estrus cycle. Fertile cycles may occur intermittently among infertile cycles, and as such, a bitch may conceive even after several unsuccessful attempts to breed during prior cycles. One study links recurrent estrus to functional follicular cysts and suggests that recurrent estrus, like persistent estrus, may respond to gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) therapy. Alternatively, mibolerone therapy (Cheque Drops) may be used to increase the interval between estrus cycles. When persistent estrus follows recurrent estrus, there is an increased suspicion for the presence of either an ovarian or hypothalamic/pituitary tumor. Quote Link to post
