Chaff 3,622
Chaff the problem with cuts on ears, is they tends to scab up ,but the itch so the dog shakes it's head or scratches at it with its paws, usually starting it bleeding and becomes a vicious circle. Is that what's happening? If so use a plastic Elizabethan collar. Then just do the usual and keep it clean and dry Yes I would say you could be right about the scratching and head shaking,it just scabs then cracks and bleeds it appears to be infected have just treated again with hydrogen peroxide as it seems to be cleaning it up quite well, and have given it a spray with savlon spray plaster antiseptic. Collar sounds a good idea will pick one up. I was concerned it was one of these flesh rotting diseases. Thanks for advice mate Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
Hydrogen peroxide is for open wounds that the edges of the wound have died off due to lack of blood supply,it's not really for infection. It fizzes a bit ,but shouldn't cause pain. Can clean a wound up that has puss ,but best get it clean before hand to save getting that far S o do you mean use it to remove the dead tissue at the edge of a wound?Yes mate that's what I've used it for 1 Quote Link to post
