keepitcovert 842
Amazed there are no posts from the irish contingent on this forum, so whats your views. Did the rebellion achieve its goal, was it a betrayal to the irish men fighting in france, or a genuine fight for independance.
morton 5,368
I cannot understand how they were fecking terrorists for decades now they are some sort of freedom fighter according to the BBC,Fenian fecking cowards that hid behind innocent civilians in the name Independance that millions voted against. They were once the foundation of the IRA and now earn a dollar from being M.P,s in modern Irish Independence, won,t swear allegiance to the crown but are more than happy to take the crowns dollar. The ira and the dissident republicans used and use violence on the back of what happened 100 years ago. Look at history and count the amount of protestants were part of the Republican movement, you won't have enough fingers and toes.

I know of Prodestants that took dollar in Catholic cause, the mercenary element had little religous boundary, bigotry was another element the British army had to deal with, sent to Northern Ireland to protect the Catholic estates and killed by the same Estates they were sent to protect,if they lost only fingers or toes they would have gone back to England happy enough for their false fecking endeavour. They weren't mercenaries but irish men and women who just happened to be protestant. The soldiers who were murdered and injured was tragic a waste and in my opinion unforgivable. Then there are also the many southern irish catholics who served and continue to serve in the British Army. They've had to make sacrifices to do that so in theory they're fenians as well. An even bigger contradiction on your definition of fenians.

How about the int. agencies from MI5 and various regiments in the British Army who ran agents in the Provisional IRA and allowed them to murder civilians, soldiers and police to keep their cover. Acceptable levels of casualties which no doubt included the likes of yourself. Agent SteakKnife aka Scappaticci being a case in point.

When i joined the army the Irish Regiment was made up of English that did not have the balls to serve in Northern Ireland and Irish that did not have the balls to stand up to their beliefs, the only sacrifices made were from innocent civilians and English troops protecting them,my contradictions may well be just such,i can live with that,i wish at least 3 of my muckers had the same opportunity.
