Gin 498
I never had any problem with the dust when working holly. The first holly shank , heart wood i did, was all done with a rasp, files and sandpaper. It turned out fantastic, but my brother has it,- i wish i'd kept it now. That took a long time to do, but was well worth it. I'd use a plane now though.
Gin 498
The worst wood i ever worked with, when i left school, as a wood machinist, was Afrormosia. That used to burn my throat and eyes. I just use mainly Hazel, Blackthorn, and Holly with stickmaking, but don't really do much of that now. If anyone has any of the early copies, of The BSG magazines, you will see Dave Owens and Bob Graham, with regular tips and methods,- most are now used by most stickmakers. Thats me and Bob. Hydropotesinermis 724
Iroko is horrible shit. I heard of a guy who got an Iroko spelk in his arm and it went all rotten. Nearly lost his whole arm.
