Gaz_1989 9,539
Can't see there be to much change why would there be ? The law is bound to tighten up isn't it? Things are getting tighter round here every season. Newer technology assisting them etc. Antis are persisting to fight hunting. They will keep pushing. Why wouldn't they? I agree with Chid. I think people will go down the lurcher X collie route or lurcher X Mal etc. More like 1/4 running dog. They will just look like leggy mongrels as opposed to eye catching runners. Or lads might go down the whippet X terrier route. A couple of them and a spaniel are far less likely to draw the same attention that a couple of 24"-26" racey lurchers do. 1 Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
If your seen hunting your seen hunting regardless of type IMO. I'm starting to get the attitude of f**k them the more times go on lol passed caring , yes il still go about it sensible as possible but they just take the piss really. Them sabs are just thugs , the laws politics and nothing to do with the real reason. Il just keep doing what I'm doing. And in 20 years time hope I'm still doing it. Quote Link to post
Guest Navek
Must admit I think a lad walking two little hand bag dogs round the edge of a field arnt going draw the same kind of attention as a lad walking two 28 inch bull x or two 28 inch saluki crosses Quote Link to post
Moorside 642
Ive thought along these lines too that some folk will go for types that draw less attention, but im hoping the conservatives stay in power because there will end up being about 10 coppers left for the whole of the UK in a few years then it'll be game on 3 Quote Link to post

nothernlite 18,089
Not been a great deal of change in 40 years apart from more saluki and bull crosses Quote Link to post
Carraghs Gem 1,675
i think there will be a lot more gsp/visla/gwp crosses + Mal/dutch crosses will have become more popular and established 1 Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
This debate was going on decades before the ban came into force ... It started when more and more commercial shoots started up and keepers became more aware of profit and loss and how much their job depended on making a profit ... They stopped turning a blind eye to lads taking the odd rabbit hare and deer and started clamping down and getting the police involved ... Nothing will change and lurchers will keep getting bred and people will keep trying breed better stronger faster dogs ... That's just human nature ........ 6 Quote Link to post

roybo 2,873
I don't think there will be many 1/4 greyhound crosses as you need a dog to catch whatever you are chasing ,OK if you are just bushing ,but then with a small pack you ain't being stealthy. If stealth is your goal I'd the way go on your own with 1 dog in the small hours 1 Quote Link to post
