jiggy 3,209
A guy i work for let his house dog out for a piss and normally it comes back 5 minutes later scratching at door to get back in and 20 minutes later his wife walks down to farm where he keeps a few white ducks and seen a fox running down field with something black in its mouth and the dog hasnt been seen since. 5 weeks ago he told me this and i didnt believe him at the time and he lives in the countryside 10 miles from nearest town so it wasnt an urban fox. Edited to say he has a few other big dogs as in sheepdog and labrador and the chihuahua bullied all of them a real fiery little thing did it bite off more than it could chew. pablo esc 1,598
Never seen it, or heard of it. But yes, I do believe it and so does someone else now Quote Link to post
Corkman 944
Jiggy, something similar happened awhile back in Clare or Limerick? A pet dog was taken by a fox as they do with cats and the feline friends are nasty customers for a fox to handle. 1 Quote Link to post
Mixedgrill 704
I'd check the cattle grill quicker than believe that story 2 Quote Link to post
stop.end 4,082
if this has happened I don't doubt it one bit, folk on here think if a dog barks at a fox he will be intimidated and bolt run away afraid ... foxes grow up around dogs all there life from when they are up on there paws, its there territory and hunting ground may it be the farm yard collie or the pet pooch down the lane.... you think a wild fox up on his or her paw's, especially feeding cubs is going to worry about a yappy tea cup... that's 72 hours of protein that's all.... that fox will have watched that dogs routine and know he doesn't yap when squatted for a shite, struck and been successful! Job done. 1 Quote Link to post
Mixedgrill 704
So your saying the Fox was waiting for the back light going on and the Chihuahua skipping out the door for a shit to kill it??? ffs 2 Quote Link to post
jiggy 3,209
The way he explained it was the ducks were in an end stable in a narrow passage way and the fox had a narrow escape route so stood his ground ive no doubt physically the 12 to 15 pound fox could take a 6 pound chihuahua but they rarely have that kind of courage unless cornered. foxbolter 447
Foxes and animals are very quick learners when it comes to food amazes me how they pass a certain place sometimes the same time each day within 5 minutes Quote Link to post
bird 9,938
the dog would stand no chance, against a fox, bloody hell there only as big as rabbit, fox would kill it easy, bloody hell some 60lb lurchers wont mix it with a fox, so a little 7lb dog got no chance. 2 Quote Link to post

neil cooney 10,416
On this weeks fieldsports channel there's a news clip where a carp angler woke up with a fox standing on him. He reckons it had been licking his mouth. The fox gave him a nasty scrape under his eye and the angler decided to pack up. He says the fox stood nearby while he packed up (which with a carp angler probably took 2 days .). I recently got a fox that was hanging around a yard and the farmer wanted him gone before it got into his hens. It was an easy fox to get as he showed up every night at the same time, 8 o clock, but the night before we shot him the farmer had seen the fox looking into his dogs kennel and was only a few feet from the dog. A Labrador. Without a doubt, Foxes are changing their ways. Quote Link to post
