tsteve9999 456
With the amount of times I fall over just lately it's a no brainer for me, box every time for their protection 4 Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
Little box, as said could easily stand on ferret, drop it etc also it definitely gets enough air when warmer. We used old bank bags when we were kids, pleased to say don't do that no more. I have different size boxes i make for myself depending on how many ferrets you taking along, have really small light bow back ones, will take 2 gills or a hob and you hardly know you are carrying it. 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Check out Jok's poachers boxes in the craft and DIY section. Not sure how busy he is at the moment but he made a few and they were spot on. He made me this... This is his poachers box... Quote Link to post
Carraghs Gem 1,675
these are pretty pricey but probably the lightest ferret boxes out there, im saving up for one of these once ive built a ferret court http://falconfabrication.co.uk/ferretsupplies.php Quote Link to post
jok 3,228
Eh up son. Just done another 2 of these. Amazing. No weight really and can take 2 ferrets easily. I've cut the panels to make another 4. If I can help I will. Thanks Gaz. Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
Small and light, about 10" x 6" made from 6mm 5ply body, the bow is 3mm. Had these boxes years and no worse. Have little scratch plates in side behind the holes. 7 Quote Link to post

lifelong cumbrian 1,826
I use the middles out out of a electric cable drum for bow, it has the shape in it, much easier than working it round. glued and tacked, leave to dry then trim up and sand, fitting thin stainless scratch plates, drill from outside, obviously fixed inside, 6 Quote Link to post

The one 8,469
Should the worst happen a bag offers no protection to the ferret and you can sit on a box when the actions slow with a cuppa keeping your arse off the wet grass 1 Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,068
If your wanting to travel light,,and go somewhere you shouldn't then a money bag or pillow case,,,in a pocket,,,or in a little rucksack,,,so you look like a hiker,,, As others have said there's no protection if you fall on it,,,,that said I never have,,, Another thing you can do ,,,is put a small single box inside a rucksack ,,,my mate vin had one specially made for this,,,with the box opening at the front rather than the lid,,,, It goes in the bottom of a rucksack,,,and there's a zip on the front of the rucksack,,,wich gets you to the box and the front of the box opens in to the zip,,,if this makes sense ,,, Also Rew on this site,,,uses a plastic bucket,,the type with a sealable lid,,,this also drops in the bottom of a rucksack,,,plenty air holes Quote Link to post
