flipbull 1,139
Lad I know, his dog lost it's tail in the wheels. Yours look comfortable doing it though, as gaz said I would prefer them off the leads beside me. This fooker I have got, I would have no chance of stopping him. You should all be fit come Sept though Quote Link to post

Rob Boux 64
Haha, interesting topic for me, as I've been riding with whippets, lurchers, staghounds since the late 80's. Even used to skateboard with 2 of them at once, that was fun, lol. Definitely got scabbed up a few times. I use a harness on the pullers (from sled huskies) ....but most get it after a while and stop pulling too hard. But, the dogs absolutely love it....I just touch my bike, and they light right up with joy. I think it's almost as good/fun as chasing quarry for them. In town, always on a lead, and in the bush, off lead 100% of the time, they just love single track....if you want a small example of how much they love it, check out this video...I just shared it with Dan on here last week to give him an idea of what we've been up to for years....sadly this video shows a bro that recently passed away but the footage is absolutely incredible and you'll love the whippet. Turned my head back to the road just in time to see a cock pheasant cross the road.. Dog pulled me I slammed breaks on down I went onto the road.. Chaff 3,603
Hard to beat a bit of biking, don't over do it too soon...I always keep the lead in my hand, I used to put it on my wrist but they seen a cat and I ended up in the hedge in a pile!I found it easier with a slightly longer lead too, keeps them out a bit and gives you time to brake up if you need totrue with longer lead, had Buck out last year with the bike , a rabbit run across the lane, pulled me into the edge, i tried to hold him back and brake, but no good he was to strong. i not sure if the main road be better,as i wouldnt see any rabbits or tree rats , as i do see the odd one or two in the lanes . keep the odds in your favour a quiet country road better for you ray. with the main road you are increasing your chances of getting hit by a car traveling at a good speed. as you know you can and do see wildlife on busy main roads. true Hey bird looks like you stole that bike mate Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
i have one flacko i bought one after being pulled off when he stopped for as shit, wouldnt have minded but i sprained my wrist and ankle a day after i started a new job..... ............and all the kids in the street were laughing at me but i wont start running them by the bike until a month or 2 before the season starts. let them rest a bit. 1 Quote Link to post
terryd 8,410
I bought this works a treat and frees up both hands still ended up doing about 90 when the dog wanted to cross in front of the bike to say hi to a little westie he don't like but a bit of braking soon bought him in line Big spring in the bar to absorb the bulk of any sudden dive Quote Link to post
