47 Years Gone And No Major Buckets Kicked.

Recommended Posts

So the other half decides to reward me with a quality rifle, had a mini clear out of underused stuff and with the results of that plus a top up we decided to have a look round.

1) Pneumatic Ballistics, famous for their magazines, now started making air rifles, rear bolt and no safety, no sale.

2) PAX Phoenix Mark 2, hankered after one of these for a while, but they sold off the pellet making side a year ago, the owner is getting old, how much longer will they be in business? Would weigh too heavy on the mind. No sale.

3) Daystate. After Simon's problems with them as well as reported ongoing quality issues all over the forums, no sale.

4) BSA. Nah! No Sale.

5) Air Arms. Never really liked them, don't know why, but not going to break the habit of a lifetime now. No sale.

6) HW, the 100, carbine, thumbhole, .177, with silencer, £690, new. Oh go on then!

So 4 pull throughs later, a few pellets up the spout and making 11.7 ft lb with Daystate heavies/JSB Heavies...

I bought one of those HW 100 thingy ma bobs in 177 nearly 3 yrs ago now. Mine has a thumbhole in the stock to you know  .

Anyways after a mountain of vermin shot it still hasn`t coughed or farted - just shoots so accurately and precise all the time !

"Unlike a mountain of faulty Daystates"

Only saying like.

Pax Guns, I live not to far, looks in good shape to me. Last time we spoke he gave no intention of closing his pride and joy and if he did decide to retire it would be past on to very good hands and stay open. Selling off the pellet making side of the business to one in Germany was as far as I know good business practice.

As to all the other manufactures any one of them could go bankrupted at any time, some have to many fingers in to many pies. In the same price range you would be hard pressed to find much of a difference between Daystate, BSA, Air Arms or Weihrauch rifles when it came to it, in just my opinion that is.

Glad you found a rifle that is to your taste.

All the best

Cannot complain thank you mac, if you wake up in the morning then it is a good day.

Hope the HW 110 is a joy to use once in your hands, feeling good and younger than we are is always a good thing, any one who says that the child in them is no longer is a liar to my mind. Bring the vet home, cheaper in the long run, I am sure that he - she can be trained to fetch and to eat cheaper food than the dog.

Nope, no bumps and not having a larf.

I love my Daystates, find them super accurate and very very reliable. Haven`t had any issues with either of mine and wouldn`t consider anything else after owning the Mk2is

Thats the difference,

you hardly ever hear anyone reward a company when they get a good working product ( because thats how it should be, working that is)

but fluck do you here when someone doesnt get a working one for what ever reason.
