Tommmy27 94
Inside dogs = smelly house atb mudIf the owner is a lazy sod then I totaly agree mud.but if kept clean a smelly house ain't to much of a problem .After every walk if the dogs have mud on legs under neath them.then they got hosed down outside every time. And towel dry.and showered at least twice a week using dettol soap.blankets in there cages are washed and dryed every 3 days.bowls scrubbed water bowls scrubbed daily. cage tray washed when bedding is washed. nothing worse than smelly dogs lol. And the wife brushes them down outside everyday. The only down side to all that washing.is there coats don't shine but I can live with that. Like I said clean your dogs. Barbarian1990 220
Like someone mentioned, I want to get them house trained, so if injured or need to stay in for som tlc it won't be a nightmare. Living out in kennels will suit me and I believe the dogs more when I'm working shifts. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
P.S I don't like dog hair and ham buttys atb mud I wouldn't keep a long or rough haired dog indoors. But a short haired mutt brushed once a week to shift any loose hairs and a missus who hoovers and mops every other day solves the problem for me. 1 Quote Link to post
matt1979 766
Just because a dog is indoors doesn't mean it has to have the run of the house. If they are allowed to roam about, use furniture for beds etc then I think it would be hard work keeping a clean house. But if your sensible about it then it isn't hard to live with them indoors. All my dogs have always lived in my utility rooms, first thing I look for in a house lol clean your dogs down after each walk (which should be done whether in or out and then make sure they have there own area for sleeping and drying off. I have a bouvier big thick coated stinking dog, but clean properly and no issues. Personally I would have thought keeping 1 in 1 out would be harder work just got 2 areas to clean rather than 1 if your sensible about how they live indoors atb Quote Link to post

I want a running dog again after my dog had to be put to sleep last year, but she don't want a big dog in house. Reasoning behind me wanting a kennel for workers and this soft lad in house ? jigsaw 11,865
I like a dog about the house at times, every pup we get has a stint in the house..I think it really helps with the bond between dog and handler and it gives em great confidence from the very start.....they get spoilt rotten by the family 5 Quote Link to post

morton 5,368
Anybody have some dogs kennelled and another as a house dog? How do they get on when out in the field? Cheers Ive heard every argument going for mutts that live in or out,out is often dependent on an heated kennel,i find that dogs housed outside are better suited to working outside, especially if they live in a kennel full of straw and not electricity.Stand on a wintry landscape high on the fells awaiting a bolt, the longer you wait the easier it is to see where the dogs reside at home. 1 Quote Link to post
Bill196510 11
Inside dogs are just as weatherproof as outside ones.my 16" border/lakeland x whippet.
