Barbarian1990 220
Anybody have some dogs kennelled and another as a house dog? How do they get on when out in the field? Cheers 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I've got 2 in the kennel and 1 inside. The inside dog will kennel without a peep and the outside dogs will live inside without a hiccup. Not a dot of difference in the field. A very thin coated breed like a whippet MAY feel the cold more if it's kept indoors. But I suspect most whippets feel the cold regardless of where they sleep. 4 Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
Ye it does mate, knew a lad that had terriers outside, lurcher in. Soon as they were in the field, terrier always used to get the lurcher in a head lock, sometimes give him a Chinese burn as well. Jealousy we put it under. Lol nah can't see a difference tbh mate 4 Quote Link to post

Carraghs Gem 1,675
some terriers are just racist fookers when i had the black dogs they only tolerated other black or red terriers, they wanted to kill my russel bitch and attacked a fawn whippet bitch and my homebred collie bitch whom also both lived outside 2 Quote Link to post
Blueboybilly 164
Got a beddy/grey outside and a ped whippet inside. The beddy/grey can handle the cold better but she has a thicker coat as expected. The Whippet is a little over aggressive but like the others have said - it shouldnt make any difference to the way that they work and I can't see any defects in their relationship either. wrighty17 36
I've had both and prefer the dogs outside but it's up to the owner , the dogs I've had inside seemed to get Molly coddled by everyone that came and would act up out in the field that's why I changed to keeping them outdoors Quote Link to post

I might just put her outside and get another inside dog lol. I might be wrong but don't think the dogs see it like that. My kennel dogs see the house dog come and go for a piss and what not, they don't cry to come inside when they see her coming back in. Equally when she's in the kennel she doesn't cry to come inside and sometimes I have to shout her in. I don't think she sees the house as a "higher place" in the pack. I'm sure someone like Skycat or Casso would be able to tell you more. 2 Quote Link to post
