Back Filling

Recommended Posts

Remember that evening well,we had run the fox in with the few hounds we kept, leavy's furs if im not mistaken, just on the edge of the cover. The wind and freezing rain was unbearable that eve and Pat brought the young lad to his house to get him warmed up and dried out, pats wife gave him soup and sandwiches and he then came back with his 2 sons with him to help us out on the dig which to our relief turned out to be a 5ft instead of 13,lol.

Your giving it the big spuds saying youv dug plenty of holes with diggers. And saying most men on here who commented havent gone over they're shoulders. If youv dug with diggers plenty of times I dread to think where your tipping your dogs In. Or have you got A plant hire on speed dial if it gets a little to deep for you...once I seen a machine and it was in a bit of a rubbish dump and to be honest I wouldn't like to see another one.

ha ha , don't have too be using a digger all the time too dig too dogs , for start mine wont stay that long and secondly I'm very obese , got job lift one leg in front the other , track the digger round and scrape the side back its called battering the hole back . when your laying mains in trench boxes 5 meters deep., ... you may open your eyes a bit and see such hazards , I couldn't care less really , just looked bit iffy in the photo , but hey who am I too judge photos on here , I will leave it too you experts

and edit too say , you may need one one day when your stuck and you will be glad of seeing one

If your digging just 5m deep for mains there is no need to batter sides for trench box ,done miles of the fecking stuff .Shotfired liquid nitrogen too .I get what you are saying though about diggers on digs as all said and done ,the digger driver is where the buck stops should it go tits up .Commen sence ,that rarity ,should prevail .

lol , if your top box is a meter below surface , yeah could add a meter one on , but too dig inside the box its easier just too batter top meter back , so driver can see and use arm better, obviously in roads you cant do that asmuch but in fields

no digger driver don't take no responsibility , the person getting in the hole makes the decision if its safe enough , then I'm sure if its not for company and regs ,....then it would be coroners decision cause of death , it does happen , been on dig to mates dog where every body just wary on things , loose rock above mans head we take it out ,..........keeping an eye on the banks , the thing with hand digging too dogs , u always get narrower as you get lower in the dig and usually its a god send as it supports the weight of the sides and helps prevent sides collapsing , been in some iffy ones , but thats right its chance you take , bit of common sense will avoid accidents , just pushing soil back from edge of dig will take weight off the sides on deep dig to avoid collapse .............im no expert and that's the truth , if my mate was in the hole I will do anything too make sure hes ok .

The bloke in that dig has been throwing stones out of rock spots for the best part of 40 years so knows what hes doing it might look dodgy but the ground around the top is stiff if anything was loose it would have been taken out on the way down
