jok 3,250
Is it or not a Cream Legbar?
jok 3,250
He is, by the way, less than 12 months.
Chicken_man 1,651
He's proud jok. Looks good Atb
Tuzo 251
I'm afraid he's no Legbar.....by the very name we know they carry the barring gene from the Plymouth Barred Rock - which isn't evident here.
devon flighter 421
tuzo when you say the barring gene is that just in the cape ? can you get banty clb?
Tuzo 251
No generally they barred all over - on some the barring is more pronounced than others. I'm not aware of any bantams as such but I guess some thing could be created with banty leghorns and barred rocks.
devon flighter 421
thanks
Tuzo 251
Obviously you'd need the aracauna blood if you wanted the coloured eggs.
jok 3,250
Thanks gents. Then as a general question, what do we have here. The guy I had him from is a bit of a traditionalist so doubt he'd be douped. Very handsome cockerel of some pedigree I think.
jok 3,250
Tuzo. Who throws green eggs? I don't mean blue but green.
jok 3,250
Tuzla. He has the most beautiful blue hen running with him. I'm intrigued. Any help Please?
Tuzo 251
Could be anything Jok....when you get even a 1st cross it can throw multiple colours and types. In the making of Legbars some araucana blood was added to give a different coloured egg.....obviously the leghorn and rock to secure the autosexing ability. The cockerel you have could be a leghorn cross - you do get lavender leghorn but without the red, also he has sizeable wattles and yellow legs.
Tuzo 251
Also Araucana come in Lavender so maybe someone has been trying to create their own Legbars and this is out of them ?
