Recommended Posts

Happened to her indoors last August.

A Drunk T Boned her, car a write off. The car was sorted in about a month, but the injury side (relatively minor) is still ongoing with no immediate end in sight!

I don't know who your missus' car is insured with, nor what make it is, but many insurers appoint a 3rd party claims management company to coordinate everything if the other party's insurers accept full liability. This happened to us recently, but the company given to us were useless and only use their own approved repairers who were also not much good. I sacked them and used another independent claims handling company. They brought a hire car round the next day and helped me organise the repairs at the garage of my choice.

I got £500 instant payment as a sorry from their insurance when the Jeep was hit. The total payout was about 6 weeks. the Jeep was a write off, I got £600 and kept the Jeep. As they hit my rather large farm hitch, I had no damage, just a scratched bumper hence the write off. The only crap was even though I wasn't at fault my insurance went up £300 as according to my insurance company I drive in dangerous places!!!

put in for whiplash because what they will pay out for your car will be peanuts, I paid £4000 for a jeep had it twelve months and they paid me £1350 for it , I took there first offer of a grand for whiplash without having to go to the doctor my misses held out and got £2500 but she did have to go and see a specialist, it was the only way of getting back what I payed for it and as said earlier get a hire car they will sort it out quicker

I'd not take any less than the book price for the moter..

Phone a dealer and ask them for a price..

:hmm:

You don't want the book price, you want a replacement (Forecourt) price.

You are not trading it in, you need insurance to cover the cost of an equivalent replacement!

had a chap write my car off last april and he got admitted fault and straight away and his insurance company phone me and asked if i would deal straight with them instead of going through my insurance as there client had admitted fault. i dealt directly with them and it was dealt with in 3 weeks. i had a the full works from them a top courtesy car the full shabang.

i would see if you can deal direct with the chaps insurance company if hes admitted fault and they are happy to that as it wont effect the misses policy, if you go through your insurance company although the accident wasnt your misses fault it still goes down as a accident claim on her policy and her insurance will go up reguardles. they like to deal with things as fast and as cheap for them as possible it can save them alot of money by dealing direct with you.
