Hunting Up On Lamp

mine was the same at the start of the season but pick the dogs runs so he catches as many as possible and with plenty of practice they soon twig that getting back means onto the next one. If you can find a good spot or two as well with plenty of action so the dogs back then onto the next quickly as long as its got its wind.

Towards the end of the season mine was coming straight back tidy

have you tried using a slip lead, hold him in till he spots a rabbit in the beam, then slip if he catches a good result, if he misses get him back on the slip as quickly as possible,do you do alot in the daytime with dog,if you do it will engourage him to use his nose rather than watching the beam.

You have to gain the dogs trust, too many people get there dog out of the kennel put it on the lead put it in the truck get to there destination wall with the dog slip it at the quarry get it back in the lead again straight away, that's all good but if the dog thinks as soon as it comes back to it's going to be on the lead for another 40 minutes it won't want to return it will want to make the most of being off the lead, it could be a number of reasons for example are you going out with a handful of dogs? Therefor your dog is only getting slipped once in a while, is there not much quarry around so your walking all night and it's only getting slipped twice so it's trying to find quarry itself? Try going back to basics when you walk your dog in the day let it off the lead for ten minute then get it back on the lead for a couple of minutes before letting it off again so it doesn't think once it's back on the lead it won't be let off again, try going hotspots on your own so your dog gets every slip,

All the best
