I'll give it another try

The dog has a collar and lead on which the woman is holding. That suggests to me the dog was of value and was meant to be in the photo.

Usually dogs in similar photos just happen to be there when the camera clicked.

I'd like to think the dog was an important part of the family.

Great pic Marshman. For you lads who are interested in Romany life n culture watch Barry Cockcrofts Romany Summer. Filmed early 1970's. Cocker Smith and family wi his horses n dogs. Very good documentary but soon dispels the romance of living in a wagon with a family. For the lads about now who go on the road to Appleby n a few other fairs etc its great, but when it was full time must have been a real hard life. No wonder the wagon culture was relatively short. Any more pics Marshman? atb.

That is a cracking pic Marshman. Looking at that stirs a hundred questions in my mind. What i'd give for a bit craic with those boys. Different era that no lamps n probably no big bags but I bet there were some good times atb
