Greyman 28,198
Like the red tube on my catty I've made up. Plenty of ash trees here defo thinking about a change just for now get better lol. I don't know if it's a regional thing but round here most catty prongs come from hazel nut trees, same as walking stick shafts, I never heard of ash forks until recently, and now they seem to be everywhere, has ash got any qualities that make it better or worse than hazel? Am just curious that's all, I have a box full of hazel forks at different stages of drying at the moment as I collect them in January and February which is when the wood has less moisture and toxins in it, do you cut the ash at any time of year or does that have a season to, sorry for the million questions but lastly are those tubes the Barnett ones they sell ready pouched up, and what is the draw like on the red ones, I normally use the yellow ones like on your other catty and find them just right for me although I am starting to use flat bands more and more lately as the options seem endless with it depending on how you cut it and what size ammo you use
Kieransingo 256
I'm not sure about ash mate ain't it a pest tree grown everywhere so I got told? I only use them cause can't be arsed to train trees an wait for them to grow mate, yeah there Barnett the red I think is better I cut the pouches off the tube an re tie them myself cause the tube tends to rip where it's been folded inside on original, I'm going to be trying gold flat band soon, an my ammo is something I doubt people use on here, there called slugs there steel 14mm accurate just like a 9.5mm ball bearings an I get bags of them gifted me daily mate.

If ur after slugs find a steel firm that makes the steel up an ask them for the 14mm slugs they drill out there bang on never fail me an do the job spot on
jok 3,213
May I say a little something? I have not a clue as regards catapult wood but, have noticed something recently. At the local, which I frequent, the hawthorn hedge has been bludgeoned to bits by the local farmer. Result ?? The loveliest of catapult looking things ever. Any good ?? Jok. jok 3,213
Never even thought a difference between 'u' and 'v'. Must admit the thorn looks more 'v'. How does that make any difference ? Don' t, please take me wrong as I am a country guy and have done the catty thing as a youngster, but all I can remember is the aluminium one. (Marlboro or something).

Jok. when you say hawthorn is that the same as the blackthorn bush,s, little white flowers and nasty spikes, they use them to make hedges that they don't want people getting through, if so yes they do make good forks I have a few drying in the garage just mind the spikes when cutting them
