single barrel 76
hi guys was looking for advice on what members think would be the best rimmy set up, gun, mod and sights,. ?? cheers Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
You have to decide if you want .17hmr or 22lr, then it's all about personal preference. You can't go wrong with a CZ (I have a 452 in 22lr) a SAK mod, and the glass all depends on your budget. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
+1 cz all the way. I have a old brno .22lr which is the old cz. Exactly the same but a can pick them up cheaper occasionally fitted with a sak moderator and Hawke Eclipse scope on top. You cant go wrong with a Hawke scope on a rimfire In my opinion cheap and very good glass for the money also works great with night vision. I use Winchester subs and get sub 1 inch groups out to 90 yards all day. Regards Dan 1 Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
As said, you don't need anything more than a CZ for general field work, (nothing will give you more accuracy/repeatability/reliability in the field) some just want a bit more, and why not, anyway....... Rimfires generally available, .22lr, HMR and WMR, each may be deemed usable for different purposes with an element of crossover. Whatever you require, and whatever quarry you have in mind, will/should have some effect on the glass you put on it, so will your personal preference for magnification and reticle. Scope wise there is generally no need to spend a fortune for a rimfire, as long as you can see your intended quarry clearly, at the distances you require, and it holds zero then job done. Putting £2k of top quality heavy glass on a rimfire could even be considered counter productive in some cases! There are those that may say I'm biased ........... 1 Quote Link to post

David Aiken 253
The question was `the best` .22lr Anschutz 1417 .17 hmr Anschutz 1517, any scope above £300, any half decent mod. 1 Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Lol. How is that any better than my 1977 Brno mod 2 Hawke Eclipse scope and sak mod? Just costs alot more and is more expensive for parts. I'll bet it isn't anymore accurate or reliable. I had a £1500 steyr .243 topped with a £600 schimbt and bender scope and it's no more accurate or reliable than my £400 zastava m70 .22-250 topped with a £200 MTC viper scope, hence why the steyr and schimbt scope have now been sold. tillylamp 1,830
i use to have a CZ 452 .22Lr with a Simmons scope and a Parker hale mod, these rifles are the way to go if you want that reliability and accuracy and an affordable price tag, personally i think there the best, 2 Quote Link to post

The one 8,475
Mines a Lakefield nice big x50 scope on it to get as much light back threw it when lamping and a moderator and sling you don't need to spend a lot on a rimmy for shooting vermin and you should get 1000s of bullets threw even a cheap one with no problems Quote Link to post
