Gaz_1989 9,539
I posted similar 12 months ago. Got baffled with science and terms I didn't understand. Went to currys. Handled a few. Brought a very basic setup for around the 400 mark, brand new, not what someone else had abused. And I'm happy with the pics I take and I'm learning a lot along the way. Some of you fellas gotta remember, we don't all want to be professional photographers. Just to take a few nice pics ? Nikon D3200 and 18-55mm lens...
lifelong cumbrian 1,829
Don't think anyone is saying that Gaz, the fella is wanting to do wildlife photos, you have a better chance with superior kit. Not saying spend a fortune but buying second hand you can get far superior kit for the same money. Just how i think anyway mate, just a view as you are giving your view. ATB. Wish i knew more at start, i would have bought -200, i have vr turned off on my lens, slows it down for action shots and you don't need it anyway for action shots. What's all the numbers for? The numbers d300 d700 are camera bodys, -200, 70-200 are the focal length of the lenses. 1.4,1.8, 2.8 are different aperture lenses, they enable you to take pictures were you would struggle with a kit lens of say f4.5 to f5.6, you will get good pics with the kit lens in good conditions but on cloudy darker days, low light, high speed action pics you would struggle thats when such as the 2.8 zoom lens will benefit you, it can stay at 2.8 through the full focal length while the cheaper lenses struggle for light the 2.8 will probably do the job. Hope this helps, i am no expert but i have spent a lot of time trying to learn and watched hundreds of videos on youtube. It is a minefield, blows your head to bits, but stick at it and eventually it comes into place. I regard it as a challenge, i will be decent one day i keep telling myself. watched hundreds of these vids, can't take owt in out of a book, dense i think they call it.
