lord verminator 75
What's the best camera for everyday use but still good enuff for wildlife pics? Got about £500 budget thinking of a canon but don't have a clue what I'm looking for in one, any advice welcome
Lid 194
Well I use a canon DSLR, which with the right lenses is going to cost more than £500. However when I go on holiday, I often take a bridge camera like this one and I am perfectly happy with the results. This particular canon has a huge 35mm-equivalent focal range of 21-1365mm. A review is here.
lifelong cumbrian 1,829
I would buy second hand, people always upgrading. I buy all my gear second hand, you save a fortune, ebay gumtree, preloved all sorts of places for a bargain. I think lenses are more important than the camera body, you need a decent camera but i would spend the bulk of the money on a quality lens or two. don't know anything about canon but you can get a nikon d300 for a couple of hundred pounds and spend the rest on a quality lens, i have a d300 and i can't take better pics on my d700 that cost 3 times as much. Just my opinion anyway, hope you get sorted.
Giro 2,648
Youd get a 1200d with basic lens brand new around £220 maybe with Canon cash back too.. For £280 youd get a tidy lens for snapping.. Go into camera shop or currys.. I like new stuff but thats just me..

Nicepix 5,650
Don't get a bridge type camera if you are doing sports or wildlife photography unless you've tried the viewfinder and it is OK for you. Many people struggle with the poor quality image, and sometimes there is a slight time lapse.
hjckcff 1,738
go on google. and type in entry level dslr camera. best buy. these are designed for ease of use. check out a few different makes and models . then type in the ones you fancy and add best price. i would go for nikon or canon. if i was starting out i would buy a body. and lens separate and buy what will best suit what i plan to shoot the most. Many people struggle with the poor quality image, and sometimes there is a slight time lapse. There's no noticeable lag on the Canon SX60. I agree not as good as DSLR, but it's really not bad at all, especially with the massive zoom range and performance at higher ISOs. This photo was taken with an older Olympus bridge camera, an SP590UZ:
lifelong cumbrian 1,829
Another good thing about buying second hand is you can buy a entry level camera at a good price then when you gain more skills and want to upgrade you can probably recoup the money you paid out so you won't be blowing money upgrading. If you fancy a nikon google ken rockwell he does great reviews on all nikon gear.
Giro 2,648
Aye bridge cameras are ok but limited when you want distance.. I had fuji bridge and got some nice shots for my standard.. I got 1200d at Christmas and have a few lens now.. For your budget it would be ideal, with 70/300 or 55/250 canon lens..

J Darcy 5,871
IMO buy a 2nd hand body. Choose an older model. it doesn't really matter. For example, if you chose canon look on ebay: Look at this one...no bids. now this camera body (and accessories) will enable you to take sharp pics. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-50D-DSLR-Camera-Body-extras-/291704729897?hash=item43eaf4f129:g:gIsAAOSwZQxW4H7u If I were you I'd message the seller and I bet he'd do it for £120 or something like that! Then all you have got to find is a lens...... easy peasy.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EF-300mm-F4-L-USM-From-Japan-n-707-/231872797381?hash=item35fcb21ac5:g:cEoAAOSwKtlWpINI get them to send it as a repaired item ands you'l not be charged duty.....there's your kit for less than 500...and it will be a billion times better than anything in bloody Currys! IMO, DO NOT go to currys or any highstreet chain and buy a camera...
