Regal How It Should Be

Recommended Posts

Hello all, quick update on my Regal. I sent it to Carl at AirTech about 4 weeks ago, he's been off his feet busy for the last few weeks so he only managed to start it at the end of last week, which doesn't concern me as the standard of his work is legendary. Luckily for me though, I called and spoke to him just before he got cracking, we discussed what he could do to make it better. So, as well as the great tune and reg, he is now going to either, shorten the existing shroud, bush and thread the barrel (for my belita to fit directly), or if he has any carbon, make a brand new shroud for me that will take my belita.

As some of you are probably aware, I had some concerns about clipping previously, as well as the steep power curve. Carl is going to negate both of those concerns and ensure that it will be running at a consistent power without any clipping, so I can finally enjoy the Regal (something which Daystate should have ensured in the first place).

I am really excited and can't wait for it to arrive, I will of course provide a short review once I've taken it out.

Andy

If your looking for your glasses you owd Fart they are behind the pure tung oil by your rifle .     "Only saying like"

Ii's just what these Huntsman Regals need Mitch. It'll mean not having to watch the pressure guage and all that faff and a better, predictable power and pellet trajectory. If Daystate did this in-hou

Just been outthis early evening for a couple of hours before nightfall with my .177 Regal and knocked down three rabbits and woodpigeon with it. Absolutely fantastic rifle as she is when you have the sweetspot and power-curve understood.

Very interested to see how the Regal performs with a proper regulator fitted to it Andy! :victory:

To be honest pianoman Carl's prices are very reasonable, just a Reg for the Regal is only £75 (according to his website pricelist) worth a look mate. Totally agree bigmac, I've sanded down my stock with grade 000 wire wool, put a few layers of walnut oil and the grain has really come out, looks stunning now, just got to bring down the shine.

Andy i use true oil bud its a little on the expensive side but fecking good you put it on let it stand for an hour them wipe it off then let it stand for 3 to 4 hours then repeat if needed .

No shine but it pops the grain and the stock looks good

hear are some photos of the hw100 stock once done

It ended up where i did not like the black in the stippling so i took it off all together

and the grain just go,s through the stock

Yeah, I took mine down and applied two layers of tru oil over two days. Looks stunning, I then went over it with the wire wool again and now it's dull and deep mate. Turns out Carl had some nice thick carbon in so if it doesn't touch the cylinder when fitted then that's how it'll arrive. I've had a short notice payment to make this month (car issue) so Carl is gonna hold on to my rifle til I can pay on payday, such a shame cos I'm desperate to get it back. If it's half as good as Carl's work has been described I'll be one happy callsign

After fitting the reg to the regal i could not get the harper valve to to give higher power than 6ft . so that went into the bin. i replaced it with one of my own valves and the rifle instantly went to 14ft after doing some adjustments to the slingshot hammer and resetting the reg to 85 bar i now have it producing 11.6 ft tomorrow i will make up a volume reducer and fit that into the firing chamber and test again 14ft shows me there is to much volume in the chamber this is the reg out the action and in the action. the threads on the end of the reg are so i can test the regulator off the rifle and also for putting a adaptor to the end of the reg for testing the rifle with out fitting the air cylinder

forgot to say the original o rings that was fitted by daystate have been removed the 2 off o rings on the reg the one on the outside seals the reg into the aircylinder the other seals the reg on the firing valve. the reg vents from the small hole on the side by the outer o ring with this reg there is no need to drill holes into the air cylinder if there is a problem the air just vents from the thread that holds the cylinder to the valve

All sounds brilliant Carl. Did you manage to get that carbon shroud on without it touching the cylinder? Don't worry if it isn't suitable, I will still be happy with original shroud shortened and he barrel threaded, provided I'm not left with that crappy shroud rattle lol
