Mr Muddy 141
Friesian live traps: They’re mentioned a couple of times in something I’ve been reading, but I can’t seem to find more information on them. Are there any trap experts on here that can give me some insight? Thanks. Quote Link to post

Are there any trap experts on here that can give me some insight? Thanks. Ive heard about them, too. They are of 'wooden construction', arent they ?. The old 'researchers' set them, to catch moles unharmed, for study purposes. They may have originated in Holland, (but im not sure) Edited March 12, 2016 by earth-thrower 1 Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
The trap in the pic above is a Fresian Trap - I had one in my collection a long time ago but it went when I rationalised and down-sized They were trialled by MAF here, many years ago, but found to be ineffective (as do most 'live catch' mole traps) as the mole dies quickly once captured 2 Quote Link to post

Which, was attached to the side of the trap. This contained some hay & earthworms, which apparently allowed the captured mole, too survive longer, in it ?,....(although, i bet this couldnt be guaranteed, upon inspection ?) A. J. B. Rudge, was the guy. Edited March 27, 2016 by earth-thrower 1 Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
Very interesting I like to see these old traps , but must say I would never use the one mentioned as I don't believe I could check it EVERY 4 hours max. Quote Link to post
