tillylamp 1,830
A cat is a hunter not a fighter and even if it is capable of killing a pit bull or boerbell it wouldn't because a dog like that wouldn't quit and as soon as the cat realised this and it was taking more punishment than the meal was worth it would show its true colours and quit the fight a cat of any size is still a cat and cats are cowards dogs certain dogs are notto say a cat is not a fighter is an understatement really, they can fight like hell, a cat would do more damage than a dog can do, i personally think a cougar would be to strong and it would be over as quick as it started, the difference between a dog and cat is once the dog is on his side/back,that's it game over, but when a cats on his side/back, that's when the damage starts, teeth and front claws holding on and the back claws are ripping the crap out of the body, the dog wouldn't know what had hit him, the cat would be on his throat in a heart beat. over here pit bulls struggle when a decent bob cat grabs hold of them,Saying a dog is finished when he is on his side shows you don't really know what you are talking about and as its all getting abit silly that's all I have to say on the subject on its side against a cougar, no chance, what part of that don't i understand,i think its you that doesn't understand the strength of a cougar. stevo79 569
To be fair anyone who thinks that dog could of turned that round is mad. For whatever reason that cat bolted. It saved the dogs life cause he was brown bread. Edited March 11, 2016 by stevo79
stevo79 569
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QE8aOc28kYc Dogs ain't got a chance against the stealth of a cat.
gazjon5 814
The cougars here (alberta, canada) grow over 200lb and their main prey is whitetail deer, which often weigh more than them. They have no issues dragging adult deer high up trees. It would take a very special dog to stand even a slim chance against a healthy adult cougar / puma / mountain lion IMHO. DogFox123 1,379
There's a big difference between a cat hunting a dog and a cat fighting a dog off. If a cat is intending to eat you have a dead dog, any dog. If a cat is defending itself it will do enough to deter it's attacker or make an escape. AKA-BRINDLE 879
Doberman looks un harmed to me...hard to see maybe it had a hold of its own...them Dogo's in Argentina are capable of dealing with pumas You must have watched a different video to me ... That cat had that dog by the throat in seconds and was choking it out ... When the cat let go the dog was staggering all over the place and didn't know where it was ........ Must have done...as the video posted at the start of the thread shows the Doberman as fresh as a daisy after its jumped on...running around straining at the leash...certainly not at deaths door...and no ones talking about dogs killing lions and tigers...just about the ability to see off a mountain lion...you should check out them Dogo Argentino's to see how a dog is capable of dealing with Pumas and Mountain lions

Also it needs to be remembered that the South American Pumas are the smallest there is ... The American Canadian pumas are much bigger ......

gnasher16 30,121
I was always under the impression that the reason a dog like a pit bull wouldnt survive in the wild was because of its instinct for combat and refusal to back down......nature being what it is i would of thought that any big cat that got into a tussle with something that fought back with any kind of intensity would use its survival skills and get the f**k out of there rather than stand and slug it out.....if not why dont they take on elephants or rhino,s etc

lanesra 3,994
Pit bulls have a drive to fight for no other reason than fight , Whereas a wild animal will only fight for 2 reasons . . Protection of there off-spring & males in breeding season . . That cat wasn't wanting to fight the Doberman it was wanting to eat it & rightly believed it could achieve that & would of only for the interference from the bloke . Would you pick someone treble your size or would you pick a weak opponent??
