We are having problems just now with mange, the biggest problem being we can't buy anything really good without going to the vet. I am sure the dogs have picked it up from foxes, which are passing through our land. Wouldn't mind if it was only the one dog, but we have sixteen. I have heard the treatment for human scabies works. Is there something you can bulk buy. The only adverts I see for BB are from rescue sites for foxes who will send you one lot for free. Why is it that you can get stuff to treat vermin for free but when it comes down to working dogs you have to pay through the nose.

Transit 690 if its that bad mate get em to someone who knows the score or a vet you dont want to be treating the wrong thing.

Qualada is very good at shifting mange and if you ask your chemist they should be able to get some for you if not anything that will kill scabies on humans will treat mange on dogs one thing to be sure of doing is only cover half the dog one day and the other half the next some of the treatments are a bit harsh to do all the dog in one go.

Whatever you use wash off after three days then repeat three times burn all the old bedding and bleach the kennels out you have to be thorough with anything as contagious as mange or you will never get rid.

Dawn, would that mean they dont scratch very much with sarcoptic mange then?

My pup has bald patches on the inside of a rear leg, been there for quite a while now, have'nt spread to anywhere else. They dont seem to bother her at all? Now Jazz had the same as a pup, vet could'nt find anything with a scrape but treated for sarcoptic mange, could it just be a bull x puppy thing and not mange?

What ive found Molly sarcoptic makes em irritate more and it looks raw while deomedetic dont look as sore .

I took in loads of dogs of the travellers sites with all sorts of creepy crawleys and never once had a lurcher with deomedetic untill i got into the apbts and had a few of them with it they were black coloured mainly that had it too i tried ivomec jabs and a deomedetic mange wash but found all it did was keep it as it was it didnt clear up properly till they were around two years of age then they sempt to get over it on their own ive seen that a few times in other peoples dogs too.

Like Dawn says they get it on their heads especially the ears and muzzle and their legs mainly on the outside though.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR REPLY

I THINK DAWN B HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD.

I WAS TALKING TO A MAN WITH SAME SYMPTONS ,HE TOLD ME HE USED A BOTTLE OF STUFF FROM A GARDEN CENTRE FOR KILLING BUGS AND SUCH,SAID SAME INGREDIENTS IN IT AS FRONTLINE???

SEEMINGLY HAS ALWAYS WORKED FOR HIM.

THIS PARTICULAR FELLA HAS TERRIERS AND LURCHERS A LIFETIME,HE KNOWS HIS STUFF

BUT IM SCEPTIC ,NO FEARFUL OF THIS GEAR IN THIER BLOODSTREAM,EVEN THOUGH A BOTTLE WOULD ONLY COST A TENNER AND GIVE ALOT OF DOSAGES

HIS LURCHER HAS SEEMED TO HAVE CLEARED UP,AND VERY QUICK TOO
