trigger2 3,145
i had a greyhound bitch a few year back which hadnt been near a track got from a lad who lived on the local traveller site she done ok the lamp her best bag was 11 rabbits which i thought was good for a greyhound. she had a roe deer aswell the one night she hocked it and it dragged her until it got to the fence her hold was enough to stop it jumping and getting away. Somewhereyournot 1,117
Never heard of lurcher that's worked a fair amount or even taken out not to pick up injuries. The slower lurchers Defo more robust but more restricted as well. Would like to see a pure greyhound working Quote Link to post
jigsaw 11,875
we had one that ate everything it caught,we lamped it for a month thinking it would get out of the habbit, after eating the 1st 2 rabbits it wasnt fit to walk never mind run.we ran it again one night and she puked up the rabbits she had earlier eaten and we ran her again and she promptly ate the next 2 ..................you can probably guess her career ended after that..i gave up on the dream after her, stuck to lurchers..a safer bet 1 Quote Link to post

Phil Lloyd 10,738
from a pup the same way you would a lurcher and how did you fined it for staminer and durability ? thanks.D I reared a nice wee bitch and used her for the roe and hares,...she fecked em up,..and I do mean, proper fecked.. Never gave the game away and told her, that she wasn't a lurcher,..and she never knew any different... Mind you, back in the day,. it was ALL after dark freelancing,.no training for the mouching/ferreting/netting business,...it just wasn't sensible to walk about during the daylight hours,...it always ended up , emotional... But, for the quick slip and trip,...I had no complaints,... I used her for several years,...broke her in the end,..but there ya go,..that's the hunting game , eh. 6 Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
I think cesar x Ruby ,seen both work ,and are both real good, but in different ways, Ruby is mad as a bag of snakes ,Cesar cool as a cucumber, laid back . But both get results in different ways . Different types and maybe a 1/2 way between the 2 would be ideal . Or use razor or Romeo or another well tested dog of that type, Oh and save me a bitch lol Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Good post Phil. Seen a couple reared the same way to do similar jobs. They were good at it too. But for every one that has done ok i'd bet there are fecking hundreds that smash like eggs. Seen a few poor buggers go that way too. Perspective is racing an F1 car in a rally... Quote Link to post
