Shame you ain't as versatile as your dog lol

Like I've said he is a very very handy wee dog to have a round you and I nearly moved him on as I didn't like him as a pup ....he was very easy to train and a natural retriever always carrying something ...but when he started grafting and realised he had a purpose he came out of his shell and we got on better ....he knows his job and we have some very big rangey spots up here that he has found in when other terriers have failed to stop anything .....works well in water with the mink hounds but too hard for hunt days ..

He has proved his worth over and over to me and others and need to get him over some bitches preferably something the same way bred as I would love another with similar traits

That impressed me. The pull from the current on a waterlogged bird nearly as big itself would have made a lot of dogs give up.

One of the first men I ever hunted with had a very inbred line of Russells and he always gave them Irish names.

He had one bitch ,Uisce (Gaelic for water) who was great at retrieving ducks.

If I remember correctly (it was a long time ago) Uisce once bolted a brace of foxes, both were shot, and retrieved a brace of Mallard on the same day.

Well done.

He has been out on the mud in the morning and been dug to the same day on a few occasions Neil...last year I was out for first light a few hundred yards downstream from where the vid was taken on the sawbill cull and new something was about from the way the dogs were acting ....the spot I was at becomes an island at the point of it and a fox came bouncing towards me it was between me and the dogs and when it saw its escape was blocked by me it took to the river and started swimming ...it was only about 10-15 yards away and I shot it and both a lurcher and terrier retrieved it from the water ....looking back I wish I hadn't shot it but it was just a quick reaction ....it would of been quite a site seeing them retrieve it a live ...lol

Alive ? You wish, LOL.

You probably would have ended up standing there watching your dogs go up the far bank after him.

Mind you, I would love to have seen them when they retrieved the shot fox back to you.

Great positive evidence for the need to keep these capable working champions going. Lovely to watch, several of mine have been regular beating dogs, but I've also had to abandon many days searching with my ear to the grd. I'll never complain about that.

I'm confident the lurcher would of dealt with it no problem s at all he also good in the water and I'm sure the terrier would of done the job ...it would of been a site to see for sure .
