i've bred from young terriers , a couple of times , because now and again you get some shit luck as in both cases lost at work and stolen as with all pups they then get tested , in the real world well

That's what I said. Is it any wonder there's so many badly bred terriers out there ? Breeding of an untried dog ?????????? Madness. There's a man living in Ireland now who got his hands on one of

As someone said they are your terriers to do what you want with. BUT, ask yourself this......if your breed of that young dog and next Winter when you have 6 or 7 month old pups of him and he is no go

Use to Steve, 15 or 16 years ago. I was only using him as an example.

There's plenty in this game churning out pups who know damn well that the pups have feck all chance of being any good.

But as long as there's ques of lads with fists full of readies then there'll be your peddlers and I've never heard of a peddler yet in the terrier world who was consistently producing good workers. When the pup doesn't work out they'll blame everything bar the breeding.

I recently heard of a lad doing a repeat mating even though he knows the first litter were useless.

I kid you not.

The same fellow has a supposedly good name. I'll bet you a penny to the pound he didn't keep any pups for himself though.

Neil i would not say he destroyed the line as he only had a small portion of it if its the same man im thinking of,the line is still very strong and will be because of the men who have it.He was always a ££££££ man and always will be,even more so when he got his half hour of fame on the telly.

Know a man who got the breeding of one of them, don't know if the same man you mean, nr dog, of the grandson to it, that dog was about six, never covered a bitch till my mate had it, no money involved, and the father to that dog, ty, was around for a good old age,

I don't know about the breeding out to dogs, but he had the son of it for a good age, Ted, and then the son of that, the devil, and the breeding of nr, was in both dogs, through the bitches the said. One man, about eighty now, had loan of the dog and it was the best he saw dug to, even when the dog was old or sick

Thanks very much for all the feedback. I'm new enough to the digging game so i don't have any other dog of my own to choose from as a sire. As well even though I'm new enough to it I have found out already that there are a lot of men with dogs who if they do you a turn i.e. stud dog, they think you owe them your life and have something over you. I could do without the hassle of dealing with people I don't want to be dealing with. Im not into selling dogs and have no interest in making money from them and any pups that would be had would be between me and my 2 good hunting friends and if they work they work and if they don't then goodbye. So there won't be shit floating around. I know that the sire should be proven but if the dog works next season and something happens the bitch then I'm back to square one. I spent good money and did good research into buying the terriers I have as pups and I am a believer in rearing pups yourself for yourself instead of trying to buy working dogs. Because in reality people dout sell working terriers!

So 4 pages of advice and you ignore it all lol.If you do one thing at all mate ,contact the breeder of the bitch for advice .Ignore the dog as at this moment in time he is out of the equation .
