i've bred from young terriers , a couple of times , because now and again you get some shit luck as in both cases lost at work and stolen as with all pups they then get tested , in the real world well

That's what I said. Is it any wonder there's so many badly bred terriers out there ? Breeding of an untried dog ?????????? Madness. There's a man living in Ireland now who got his hands on one of

As someone said they are your terriers to do what you want with. BUT, ask yourself this......if your breed of that young dog and next Winter when you have 6 or 7 month old pups of him and he is no go

we can all have these strong breeding rules but how many people really stick to them we have all bred pups for the wrong reasons at times maybe once or twice its when people do it over and over again it grinds my gears

Absolutely pl, and we all have to start somewhere , I am certainly guilty, but with mistakes, a bit of experience , and hopefully we learn. personally speaking, if the lad has a 2 season bitch who's only fault is its too hard, I reckon he's off to a pretty good start! But to answer the lads query, no I would not put an unproven dog over her, no matter how he's bred. I would listen to fd and see the breeder of the bitch? paper breeding is the fastest way to lose quality IMO? Anyway atb to the lad in whatever he decides.

Im sure if he done a bit of homework on the bitch he would come up trumps with a suitable stud dog and leave the untried dog until further down the road when its proved itself.Did he mention what age the bitch is and what she has done, not going to read all these posts again, lol.

It's nothing to do with money just I own the dog and bitch and would like to start something of my own. It's the only dog I have but I know where it came from and all good stuff. I know ideally i should wait but the bitch will be working next season and if anything happens her then I will have nothing off of her.[/quote

Not a hope bud would I breed off that young dog. If ur happy with his breeding & ur sure that line is what ur after, go straight to the man whose line its from & ask him outright to recommend some studs (they should be at least 6 yrs old). All the while get as much info on the line & the best dogs & bitches within that line. Get the breeding behind the suggested studs. Try to figure out which is better bred, (contains as much or as close to the better terriers in the line.) View each dog. Try & find out from others (who know what a good dog is) what they think of the recommended studs. And make ur choice knowing u've done all in ur power to select d best! Hopefully this is d start of great things to come & u would still be starting something of ur own!!
