J Darcy 5,871
Plain old salt water wash does the trick ... Boil up a cup full of water let it cool add 1 teaspoon of salt stir well and bobs your uncle ........ If the eye is scratched I wouldn't be putting salt in it. IMO it needs lubricant, such as fucithalmic, not abrasives....JMHO.

J Darcy 5,871
Thanks fellas much appreciated advise, but my Mrs has now noticed so it's of to vets tomorrow lol If they prescribe you something like Fuci, it will be cheaper getting it online The thing with eye damage is that you do not, under any circumstances, want anything that's going to rub the surfaces together. If this happens the eye can, and will, go blue and it's a hard slog back to getting it clear. The vet might give the dog a steroid cream to stop this occuring. I've heard plenty of old wives tales regarding eyes, IMO nothing will beat modern medicine when it comes to eye damage. Please keep us up to speed with developments......
Chaff 3,622
Vet has given me isathal eye drops/ cream she dyed the eye and had a good look and there were no signs of any marks. So being treated as an infection, she asked about swimming which he does do but his last dip was two weeks ago. While in there he gave his head a shake resulting in an old split ear injury to open up. So gave us some hibiscrub for that and suggested treating his ear with the isathal drops as well. Now if anyone has any tips as to getting eye drops in, because even with a good headlock he not having it at all. I thought maybe when back from a walk and he is sleeping might be a good time. Thanks again for your help and advise.

Easiest way to put eye drops in is to do it while the dogs laid down. Let him close his eye, as he will instinctively do, and then lift the upper lid and just squeeze the lotion into it. You don't need to go mad, literally a couple of drops will do. maybe give him a treat afterwards and tell him he's a good boy and all that stuff. JMHO....
