shropshire mole 190
I might give them ago trouble is I am set in my ways, You may be set in your ways, but occasionally something comes along that will make life easier. Putanges are great for public areas where trap detection may be an issue, or you open a run and find 3 tunnels, duffus in one, putange in the other. Sorted 1 Quote Link to post

SortedI do that now with a nomol trap, they do look more substantial than the nomol traps though, Edited March 1, 2016 by 3175darren Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
I haven't got any left. If Norfolk Trapper can get them at the cheaper price he quoted previously then I'll leave him to it. At the minute I'm trying out a few stainless ones I've managed to source. If they turn out OK I'll be using them in future. Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
Do you have stainless putange? And would a metal detector find them if you lost your markers? Smithie Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Yes, and no idea. Never had any dealings with metal detectors. Sorry. Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
I began to make a stainless one a few week back. Never even got around to finishing the first attampt Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Keep at it Smithie. I got about a dozen 18 months ago from a local farmers suppliers. I didn't know that they were stainless until a few months after I started to use them. By then the dealer had stopped selling them due to complaints from customers that they were too strong. I've been looking for some more ever since. I've now got a sample of 20 to try out and if they are OK I can order some more. I have a lot of Putanges out 24/7 permanently and the stainless ones don't need as much cleaning and tweaking when I check them. Saves me a bit of time so I'm hoping to be able to change all my contract traps to the stainless ones. Still no idea what you meant about the metal detector though Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
Metal detector is to find them If I cant remember were they are. Tbh I'll stay with the traps I have. I was messing when I began to make the stainless trap Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
I don't have problems finding the traps. With the long term traps I put a piece of floorboard over the trap site, slightly recessed into the turf. Lawnmowers just go over the top without damage and I can find them easily. If its a short term job I spray the clod with orange paint. Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
Clive, I think you ought to send a pair of the ss ones over for a professional verdict, lol. I won't even charge for this appraisal! Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
Down Rover! It took me three months to realise that the others were stainless, so I won't be jumping to any conclusions with this batch. They will remain strictly numpty-amateur appraisal only for the time being. Quote Link to post
