I've stopped now due to the amount of young about.It depends on the area and if many does are in kit or not.

As a total newcomer to ferrets, what are the best dates to hunt and is there a closed season?

Closed season is up to your discretion but most stop when they start breeding unless its pest control. I was just taking the batteries out of my locators as we speak lol. Roll on september

September to feb or early march if your really lucky. Used to be any month with a r in it was the season for hunting rabbits, not now.

End of April for ferreting then maybe another month block trapping the burrows we couldn't ferret then some lamping during the summer

My season ended the weekend, more like October til end February no interest in hunting rabbits now with them in young, you will only spoil it for next season let them have there time to breed more sport, hopefully start fishing in April.............
