Biggish then. You mentioned feeders. Is there any point in as much as is there shooting going on around you enabling you to try bringing their birds over? Birch suggests wettish ground. Any chance of creating a flight pond therefore not only attracting wetland birds but also helping the habitat for non game species. It was a very valid point made regarding making the wood 'warm'. Any of that scrub can be bunched up and semi laid as a wind break. Pheasants love it too for nesting. Then in the greater scheme, vermin control. I imagine as you've been given the wood perhaps it's not been used for any useful purpose for a while. Must be great to be able to work from a blank canvass.jok.

Theres no shoots nearby and the woods been left for years theres a few wild pheasnts knocking around . Weve been doing pest control on the farm for a couple of years . It is pretty wet ground maybe a pond would be something to think about in the future

Just a thought. Muntjac. Derbyshire is a fairly big area and we do have a large amount of deer, but, since becoming the heart of The National Forest, deer have really gone for it. My mate had one last night. Without wanting to know where you are exactly, where are you?
