Poor Season For Everyone.more Numbers Next Season ?

Usually animals are creatures of habbit but with all the wet weather they have been hard to find but with a full tank of juice and enough places to check we have still had plenty of sport ,

determination in man and dog will always bring sport everytime.

its been a funny old season certain nights its been like every other night there every were then other nights its been shite but if you can handle a lamping hangover for work the next day you will always find ,jesus some mornings im still asleep on my feet at work till about 10 then i can shake it of just lol

lol, horrid i know, pre ban was working as a butcher, used to call in on way back from lamping to grab a drink at 6 ish, home to get cleaned up, then back for 7, great times.

It's worse when you get home for 9am...having driven since 9PM!! Solidly. Then even though you're as tired as hell you can't sleep as your mind won't slow down. So after tossing and turning for two hours you go and get the dog and go out again and have another one on the deck. Then you feel tired. Eyes stinging like someones sprayed acid in them, and the dogs on his last legs too ha ha .

The thing is, it's a young man's game. The older you get, the harder it is and the longer those motorway miles seem. That's why there's so many jackers out there..... :yes:

Do as much as you can, while you can, because one day you'll slow right down and you'll be sick to the back teeth with 50 zones and red tail lights and speed cameras and hitting the rumble strips on the motorway at 7am when your eyes have given up their fight with gravity and no amount of coffee is going to stop them. The older you get the harder it is to do 700 miles week...

Time to get some relaxing done over the summer, let's hope the sun comes out for a day or two....

I've done a few 1200 mile round trips ,it's amazing how I can do it with just one stop to piss and refuel,on the way there,

yet on the way back,I can be so tired my hands can no longer hang on to the wheel.

Once drove 1200 miles round trip got a fox and was back the next day lol .

And once for 10 rabbits lol,

But who can complain with great company and game for the dogs.

its no good when your that tired that you think the white lines up the middle ov the road is a badger and you think your driving over a bridge and there is no such thing and its a waste ov time trying to get half hours kip because like darcy sed your still winding down and even if you do nod of you nearly shit your pance thinking you have fell asleep at the wheel lol

Haha I had a kip the other week on the way back,and did exactly that, was dreaming about driving haha.

 

It's not too bad if you've had a good night and have company,as you can keep yourself reciting what happened that nigh,even though he was there ,and then you'll listen to him telling you the same story,even though you was there ....priceless

Had both my runners taken out for the season within two weeks of each other at start of October. Things had been going well up till then, and we'd had a good early start.

 

Since then, Ive just been watching other folks dogs work and taking other people out. Seen some good sport, seen some good dogs and all the freezers are full . . . . to the point of giving away meat.

 

So can't complain.

 

Roll on next year.

Throw some meat the way mate lol.

Are your both ok now.

Don't think one will ever do any serious work again, but he's served me well enough for the last six years to stay as a sofa warmer, and mooching buddy.

 

And the other one, fingers crossed. . . . we shall see how she gets fit and take it from there.

Since then, Ive just been watching other folks dogs work and taking other people out. Seen some good sport, seen some good dogs and all the freezers are full . . . . to the point of giving away meat.

 

So can't complain.

I've got a bigger dog.

 

But in this case, what was needed was something with less of a do or die attitude and a better respect for immovable metal objects and their potential danger to ones dental apparatus.

 

Oh and better immunity.

 

He smashed a lot of teeth out and then got a real bad infection type thing mate.

 

It f****d something in him and he's on permanent tablets and ive got to be careful not to run him too hard.

The quarry could be in plague proportions and I'd still have a bad season with my lot.

I'm just learning to enjoy good company and a good laugh with a small pack of mutts that dont want to eat each other and maybe a bit for the freezer.

I've got 2 here that I'm frightened to let other dog walkers see, they're both covered in cuts and scratches. In actual fact ones had a couple of tousles with barbed wire and the other caught the bruce lee of squirrels, I've just counted 7 nicks on his face from the little fecker.

Bigger dogs crash harder.

Had quite a shit season, two injuries sitting good lot of time out, new pup through summer now bring it on back end next season.

Caught a good few rabbits and got experience behind my dog, even if he has picked few bad habits up but hope to iron it out in summer with him.

The times he was injured weather was good,then soon as he was fine be frosty or flooded lol aw well. Still better season than last.
