HoneyBee 9
Hello all, I thought general chat would be the best place to post this considering an Ovcharka is not a running dog, nor a terrier nor a gundog . Does anyone else have one of these dogs? It's pretty unusual to bump into someone with this breed. Our Ovcharka is named Bear, he's 3 years old and now weighs in at around 12 stone. So a big old boy. He's extremely protective and powerful. Hopefully I've worked out how to put pictures on now!

HoneyBee 9
I've never seen one but he looks a big lad. What were they originally worked on? They were bred to guard sheep in Russia, originally an LSG breed similar to Anatolians, Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, Komondors etc etc. They then progressed into guarding Russian prisons and were seen on the documentary Russia's toughest prisons. He was brought by someone who had no dog experience whatsoever and came to live with me at 15 weeks.
