bird 9,872
Sorry if I am high jacking this post but what age before put to fox pre ban Just curious well it depend's on the dog for a start, some dogs are still like pups at 14 months old, where another young dog might want to have a go. prob 18 month old most dogs would be ready to tackle old charlie . 3 Quote Link to post
Chaff 3,599
Thanks for that chid 21 is that the same for most folk,my dog 18 month and very soft mouthed wouldn't want to ruin that by putting him to teeth he wants em for sure (rats) Quote Link to post

Plucky1 1,119
I think bird has it spot on as to the age entering, youngest one was a collie/grey at 9 months, killed it easy and never looked back but I've had some struggle and never take them single handed, easy to do doubled up or gang handed but someone will normally take the pain, dogs are as different as ourselves, killing rats and fox has never affected any of my lurchers bringing back rabbits or game birds alive,I expect a lurcher to take whatever is put in front of it,birds as well as ground game,WM (pre_ban of course) 1 Quote Link to post
king 11,972
My 11 month old dog scented a woodcock today 20 ft away in the forest and flushed it 4th time he's done it now. A 410 would be handy in the future. 1 Quote Link to post
