mattwhite 1,993
Personally I would get him the hw30 as it's just shy of 6lb an build quality is superb http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/weihrauch_hw30s_rifle 2 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Hw30, for a lighter cocking effort but less power, hw99 in .22 for full power springer. Crosman ratcatcher might be worth a look at too, or if cash allows brocock contour Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
My first gun was a BSA Meteor, great little gun, do they still make them? pianoman 3,587
I reckon the HW99 in .22 is a good rifle for a little lad to start with. He'll grow with it too. There's a whole lifetime of shooting from plinking tins, to targets. to serious hunting with that little rifle and its performance is not to be sneered at. Better built and, being a Weihrauch, better accuracy than the Gamo-built BSA Meteor of today 2 Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,807
If just target shooting then any of the above but if your going to take him hunting then there is only one in my eyes the ULTRA SE MULTI shot and don't let the size of it fool you its a little rifle with a hell of a lot of hitting power atvbmac  Quote Link to post
