mark williams 7,561
Hi Matt, If it helps any, i always zero .177 to 38 yards. That zero pretty much keeps your pellet within a one inch flight path ( kill zone of 1") from 9.7 yards out to 38 yds.( no hold under or hold over required) atb So in theory, one could zero at 9.7 yards then? Absolutely NOT ! If you read again Charlie it says - " That zero pretty much keeps your pellet within a 1" ( one inch) flight path from 9.7 yds out to 38 yds,- it does not read - " So in theory, one could zero at 9.7 yards then ?" - Does it ? Contrary to some, i have always found Si Pitterway and Davey t63 very helpful and very knowledgeable lads in the air gun world and this zero information came from these lads. So Charlie, i thought , whoe there i`m going to double check this after your comment and i just have ! I placed a 1" circle on a paper target at exactly 10 yds, Took 4 shots from off the primos sticks with the T Rex 200 hc .177 at x8 magnification, parallax cranked right down to minimum (10 yards) and she is already tac driving at 38 yards zero. The result was 4 pellets through the same hole at the bottom of the one inch circle line, dead centre, so "within the 1" kill zone". The scope used is a Mamba lite 3-12x44. Si and Davey were correct atb 2 Quote Link to post

Si and Davey were correct atb I think Charlie just means it crosses the first point of zero @ 9.7 yards along with pullin' ya leg a bit Mark. So In 'theory', it is right, but we never do that. Absolutely NOT 1 Quote Link to post

Si and Davey were correct atb Mark , your 38 yard does not work using AA fields , with that distance ,you would be out of the 1" kill zone from Approx 19 -32 yard "just saying like " 2 Quote Link to post

charlie caller 3,654
Just to be clear, I was not being facetious by any means, it was a genuine question, which you seem to have addressed accurately, not that you would do it, but it does appear that with your set up at least it would be feasible to zero at ten yards, and just to add, if I fit a new scope or get a new air rifle, my initial zero,at home is at ten yards, interestingly enough, when I then take it out much further, I am never far off, sometimes bang on in .177 at least, so the question does have some merit. 1 Quote Link to post
