scotty3968 0
HELLO MATE.... Afriend of mine used to run a whippet/ grey a lightening fast dog in a straight line but not to hot on the turn and other people have said a bit accident prone aswell but still a good dog caught many a rabbit and the odd fox and hare when legal,,why not go for a grey x collie/whippet great rabbiting dog with a bit of brains and speed,,good luck whatever you decide im sure you will enjoy.. scotty Quote Link to post
juckler123 707
Injury prone if there not brought up running stuff from an early age is what ive found too ive had a couple of em good lampers though but fade at around the twenty mark plenty enough for any man id say unless your into big numbers also thin skinned which i dont care for as they have no protection and soon get sore with regular work much better crossed but capable dogs never the less. im running a whippet grew based collie cross suits me for where i hunt on fast grass and hillsides fast but sensible with it still thin skinned though . Guest hunterside
Hows it going lee?,youv'e seen my bitch before, the only trouble with whippet/greys is theyv'e got no stamina and tend to overshoot. My bitch was like this when she was younger, now shes 3 shes settled down, what she misses on the turn she'll pick up on the straight.Could do with a little more stamina though, but she does me well as im not out lamping all night,a few in the bag and then its back home.Catch yer later mate, hunterside. cúagusgiorraí 57
I find that if you give them enough time to catch their breath and cool down between rabbits, you can get alot out of them in a night. They dont have stamina like a collie cross but can work well if they are fit enough and you take your time. Quote Link to post
