spiderfly 111
Before any ban, in your eyes ( reminder everyone worked different quarry!) what quarry was your favourite to hunt and why? What do you think the best test was , rat, rabbit, hare , fox or deer? Daytime I'd say a hare or a deer and night time would be a fox! Quote Link to post
king 11,972
Adult male rat daytime. I think a well bred 1st X bull grey would be my dog of choice. Edited February 20, 2016 by king 1 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Best test for a lurcher... Well, no good saying a fallow buck to someone with a 19" whippet cross, nor a January hare on the fenns for the 'squarer type' bull cross... horses for courses here...! Just simply getting it out and behind gear imo. Because whatever your lurcher type, or whatever the chosen quarry, each and every time out is a dogs best test... Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
Hahaha^ Got to be a hare for speed , stamina and agility. 1 Quote Link to post

Butler 396
Got to agree the hardest test for any dog is being out there grafting.... Plenty of dogs will put up a good show once a week but work them hard several days/nights a week and that's when you see what your feeding.... Best test for a lurcher... Mary 352
Depends on Lurcher type, a whippet taking down a big red stag would be a fair test, a bull hound 1st cross trying to out smart a rabbit would be another big test, Ffs, what's all the testing about, deer dogs should take deer, rabbit dogs rabbits and so on, there are dogs bred/designed for chosen quarry and said dog should be able to perform and work accordingly, get the dog you need for the job and the only test is for you to put work in front of it. 2 Quote Link to post
