Gin Trap?

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I have not been on THL for a while ...

Yes, it is a 4 inch jaw gin trap, made by W&G Sidebotham's in Wednesfield circa 1940. They stamped a multitude of retailer's names and numbers on them, I cant quite make out the name on the brass tongue on that one in your pic though, or I would tell you about that too ...

200A was a Tinsley & Co catalogue number, it would have had a fully galvanised bridge piece, slightly better quality than the standard types

Thanks OTC for making me a little wiser about the " killer " trap. I'm living not far from the German border, so finding it here, is not a big surprise. Was I right in presuming that's is was made somewhere in the 80's ?

Yes they made them until the 80's, I saw some for sale in the Middle East that looked brand new a couple of years ago

In the town in live an animal supplies salesman still sells them brandnew, €35 each.

My brother worked there for a while, told me he's got an loft full of 'em
