ratattack 111
Makes no sense to me, weaker Spring is more effective? It may fire quicker but won't be as effective at killing. I have some talpex type that are 10 +yrs old and still catch but have been "missing" lately which is odd. Are they not holding him tight enough or soil holding the trap back as I springs as they are weaker I don't know. I took some new ones out today and they are savagely quick so set them in the same areas as the older ones to compare. It may be the spring is getting weak on the talpex meaning he's travelled further before it's gone off. Some of my traps due to be replaced are like that and catch a bit further back. Doubtful, in actual fact the opposite is true with Talpex types. The weaker the spring the quicker it fires. The Talpex is so well made that I guess there springs will last a lifetime and still be effective.... Edited February 29, 2016 by ratattack Quote Link to post

I meant the weaker the spring the easier it is for the the trap to fire when a mole is in the tunnel. Which results in the trap being triggered and the mole isn't properly in the trap. The speed of the actual firing trap will be microseconds and immaterial IMO. There's a big difference between talpex and 'talpex types' IMO. Quote Link to post
Nicepix 5,650
There's a big difference between Talpex types too Mine are all genuine Talpex except for one Flatpack that I got to try out. That is the only one with rust on the trigger plate. Quote Link to post
